Food in Yogyakarta
It is not very hard to find food in Yogyakarta as it varies from street food stalls to restaurants. The dishes are sold starting as low as 20,000 to 40,000 rupiah. It is safe to say that if you budget about 50,000 rupiah for one time eating, you can afford a full course. Indonesian dishes such as nasi goreng (fried rice), mie goreng (fried noodle) and sate (satay) are available in most restaurants. We highly recommend trying famous traditional Yogyakarta dishes such as gudeg and bakpia. Most Yogyakarta’s traditional foods do not have long shelf life. However, if you wanted to buy some gudeg as souvenirs, you can find canned gudeg that have long expired date.
Internet in Yogyakarta
Most hotels and restaurants in Yogyakarta have free Wifi connections for their guests. However, if you want to buy sim data for internet usage on your mobile phones, you can find prepaid sim cards in the airport or convenience store. Prices may range from 25,000 to 50,000 rupiah for about 3GB data and may last for a month. Providers internet service such as XL and Telkomsel had both 3G and 4G coverage that worked more often in all the city areas.
Transportation in Yogyakarta
Taxis are quite common to find in Yogyakarta, and you can ask for the hotel’s crew to call for taxi. Price for taxis may range from 30,000 rupiah (minimum fare) to 60,000 rupiah for long distance journey.
